This is a virtual pet app that has been running for nearly four years. Recently, the company that runs the app, GREE, Inc., announced that they will be permanently shutting down the app on November 28th, 2013. No explanation was given as to why the app will be shut down.

Thousands of users across the world have invested time, money, and a great deal of personal emotion into raising their Megus, some of them for many years, and it is devastating to learn that GREE is shutting down the app with no explanation as to why. 

Virtual pets become like real pets or like friends after a while - you check on them several times a day, play with them, feed them, take care of them, and over time you feel responsible for their well-being. Of course we know they are not real - but for those of us who have spent actual years raising and caring for our Megus, the love and affection that we feel for our virtual pets is very real. The pain that we feel knowing that we will lose our pets is not "virtual" pain.

We are willing to work with GREE, Inc., on a solution to help keep Kawaii Pet Megu running. If it is a monetary issue due to the online capabilities of the app (e.g., if it is too expensive to keep the app running "online"), perhaps a purely offline version can be offered, with no online interactions - only your personal pet can be played with/cared for). If the app is too expensive to run in general, perhaps users would be willing to "purchase" it again or pay a monthly subscription fee of some sort. We are willing to work with GREE, Inc., if GREE, Inc., would be willing to let us know why Kawaii Pet Megu is being shut down.

We would also like to know if GREE, Inc. would be willing to sell the Kawaii Pet Megu IP to another company in the future so we could possibly be able to interact with our pets again at some point in the future?
