Create a Bill to protect Korean celebrities from fan actvities
The Issue
This is something that has been bothering fans for a long time now. Most of us are international fans that know about the problems that Korean Celebrities have with sasaeng , regular, and anti-fans. You most likely have gotten letters or messages asking you to do something about it. Now we know you are a busy man but I think you would be able to handle this situation properly. We know that at this time your President Park Geun-hye who has just taken office is handling a matter way more important than this. This is why I would not ask her to handle this matter. I read that you were a social justice and human rights activist in the 1970s and also the founder of the Hope institute. Because of this I think you would be the most understanding about the rights of a human beings. These men and woman that entertain on a daily basis are not gods or immortal creatures. Like any other human in this world they deserve to have some peace in their lives.
During the past ten years fandoms have continuously grown and warped into something that is becoming more dangerous with every passing day and with that it is only a matter of time before we will be faced with not just a celebrity suicide but with involuntary manslaughter and murder. Everyone's life is at risk as long as they behaviors continue. Sasaengs, celebrities, Staff members, other fans, and innocent bystanders. These girls and perhaps even some boys are causing harm to themselves and others and putting the lives of others in jeopardy with their actions. Oh yes we can say “ Deal with it! You are a celebrity.” But is this fair? No one wants to wake up to thousands of screaming people standing outside your door. Don’t these same fans of all sorts disrupt traffic? How about the airports? There are people going on business trips and are here to see family and so on. Are they able to get to their destination on time? Also, what about the strain on security? Not only this but these celebrities are not able to drive to their destination safely without fans in cars or taxies following them around and causing accidents. Why does it have to take something like an accident that can kill the celebrity or fan for something to be done about the situation? In the international based group the KEFU ( K-Entertainment Fans United ) we talk and research these matters and try to see if we can come up with ideas to make it easy for celebrates to be able to move around safely and also caring about the safety of the people who follow these celebrities around. WE did come across something that would be the perfect idea. A temporary bandage that will help heal the wound in the society of South Korea as it is practiced and expands. Recently in Hawaii on February 4th , the idea for a bill to protect US celebrities in the state of Hawaii came about after paparazzi continue harassing celebrities who are normally vacation there. The Steven Tyler Bill was created it stated: “ the legislature feels "many celebrities are deterred from buying property or vacationing in Hawaii because the same paparazzi that harass them on the mainland are more likely to follow them to Hawaii." The bill states the "harassment" of celebrities is of particular issue on Maui.” It then continued to say: “A person guilty of this invasion of privacy would be subject to special damages, general damages and "punitive damages up to three times the amount of general and special damages combined."
According to this they had a huge problem with paparazzi and celebrates didn’t feel the need to buy property there because they had no peace and wanted to protect their families. On March 6 the Bill became official. As you can see it only took a month for a bill to be signed. It is temporary but so far it is has been keeping the paparazzi from doing too much. Pretty soon other states and countries will follow this idea for celebrities to have peace like us normal citizens. Unlike the US your country doesn’t have a problem or issue with the paparazzi but you do have a fan girl or boy problem. A problem that could have been dealt with before it had reached an extreme level. As you can see nobody really wants to deal with it. Either out of fear of backlash or because it has become just too much they continue to let it go. But why? Until we here that someone has been severely injured by a fan or ends up being involved in a fatal accident. It really isn’t our place as “International fans” to pry in your countries affairs but no one is doing anything about it. It seems like an untouchable subject that can be brushed under the rug. Plus if you haven’t noticed internationally fans all over the world are adopting the lifestyle of a sasaeng or anti-fan. It is not cute. So because of that, why not set a example and let it spread abroad ending this mess. So by this we are asking if you are willing to end the madness before it is too late.
