Answer for allegations of animal cruelty near your 7-Up bottling plant (CA)

The Issue

TNR (Trap / Neuter / Return) is the most effective system for maintaining a controlled, healthy population of feral cats. 7-Up employee Larry Ottaviani was terminated by 7-Up for helping solve an issue that would have potentially otherwise have been more of a problem for the 7-Up plant and the surrounding area. Larry Ottaviani’s compassion was not rewarded by his employer, but met with hostility and dismissal. The termination of employment of Larry Ottaviani by the management of the Sacramento, CA 7-Up bottling plant for his acts of kindness on his own time is inexcusable. Further, the CONFIRMED removal of the nearby feral cats by the management of the 7-Up bottling plant is a criminal offense. The PR representative for 7-Up made falsified claims regarding relocation of the cats to the [nonexistent] “Rio Linda Animal Preserve” where the cats would be “released into their natural environment". Despite the location not being a real sanctuary, relocation of feral cats is a PROCESS, one that the management and PR staff of the 7-Up bottling plant are not educated on. Dumping cats in a random field is not a safe solution for relocating cats – it was a thoughtless solution for 7-Up. Disturbingly further, it has also been alleged that the 7-Up management was using the practice of leaving bowls of anti-freeze around the outer perimeter of the plant to poison the “problem cats”. If this allegation has any truth to it, this is a SEVERE criminal offense. The public demands answers and demands 7-Up make reparations. Until that time, We, the concerned public will not stand for a public corporation to sweep justice and ethics under their silent rug. We urge Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. to take handle of this situation and learn compassionate alternatives to their perceived problem, to compensate Larry Ottaviani for his damages, and to make up for the repeated mistakes of the management of the Sacramento, CA bottling plant towards area animals that deserved, at the very least, decent human compassion. These cats are not vermin. They are animals with a right to live in proximity of this bottling plant. This is your opportunity, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. Your reputation is now in your hands. We won’t forget, but we may forgive. Its up to you. Make 7-Up YOURS, again…or we will take 7-Up DOWN. That’s a promise. Thank You.
