🏳️🌈 Ask Apple & Samsung to Add More Pride Flags for emojis. Let us be seen
The Issue
🏳️🌈 Ask Apple & Samsung to Add More Pride Flags to Emojis!
To: Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics
Why This Matters
Emojis are one of the most common ways people express themselves online — across texts, social media, and daily communication. For millions of LGBTQIA+ people, these symbols can be small but powerful ways to show pride, identity, and community.
Right now, Apple and Samsung’s emoji sets only include a few Pride flags — such as the rainbow flag and the transgender flag. While these are incredibly important, they don’t represent the full diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Many people are still waiting to see their identities reflected in the emojis they use every day.
What’s Missing
Each Pride flag has meaning and history. Here are just a few examples:
Bisexual Pride Flag — Represents attraction to more than one gender and fights bisexual erasure.
Pansexual Pride Flag — Celebrates attraction regardless of gender identity.
Asexual Pride Flag — Brings visibility to people who experience little or no sexual attraction.
Nonbinary Pride Flag — Honors people whose gender exists outside the traditional male/female binary.
Intersex Pride Flag — Represents bodily autonomy and intersex visibility.
When these flags are absent from digital spaces, it can unintentionally send a message that some identities are less visible or less valid.
What We’re Asking For
We urge Apple and Samsung to:
Collaborate with the Unicode Consortium to propose and support additional Pride flag emojis.
Consult with LGBTQIA+ communities and advocacy groups to ensure inclusive representation.
Publicly support adding a wider range of Pride flags to future emoji updates.
Why Representation in Emojis Matters
Representation isn’t just symbolic — it shapes how people see themselves and others. By including more Pride flags, Apple and Samsung can help make everyday communication more inclusive, educational, and affirming for everyone.
Let’s make digital spaces reflect the real diversity of our world.
Sign this petition to encourage Apple and Samsung to expand their Pride flag emojis and celebrate all identities with pride!
