What do Mister D'Arcy, The Iluka, Harbour Bar and Jarrah have in common?

They've all made the decision to put people's safety first.

Under the leadership of Wes D'Arcy and with the support of Shara and the team, these venues have chosen to equip their businesses with LifeVac. They hope they'll never need it—but if that day ever comes, they'll be as prepared as they can be.

That means a lot to me.

The Iluka also opened its doors for the official launch of ZaZa's Legacy – Choking Prevention Australia. After everything that led us here, it wasn't just a venue. It became part of our story.

As a father who lost his little boy to choking, I know how quickly an ordinary meal can become every parent's worst nightmare. That's why this matters. Not because we expect emergencies to happen, but because they do.

To Wes, Shara and the whole team, thank you. Thank you for believing in what we're trying to achieve and for leading by example. I genuinely hope other hospitality venues look at what you've done and think, "We can do that too."

So here's my challenge to every café, restaurant, pub, club, tavern and hotel.

If these venues can take this step, why not yours?

Let's make choking preparedness part of hospitality. Let's make it as normal as having a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher or an AED.

No family should have to live with the loss that my family carries every day.

And one important reminder: LifeVac is not a replacement for first aid. Always follow Australian choking first aid guidelines and call 000. LifeVac is designed as a last-resort option when recommended first aid hasn't worked or can't be performed.
