⚠️ Trigger Warning: Child Loss & Grief: ZaZa's Legacy x Lockridge Primary School

In May, ZaZa's Legacy was honoured to donate two LifeVac anti-choking devices to Lockridge Primary School — made possible through the generous support of Community Bank Bullsbrook–Ellenbrook and Community Bank Bindoon | Bendigo Bank.

Lockridge Primary reached out to us after a student with eating difficulties prompted the school to explore additional safety measures. The school is home to a beautifully diverse community — including many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families from a wide range of multicultural backgrounds — and their commitment to the safety of every child in their care was evident from the moment we walked through the door.

As part of the staff training, I demonstrated the LifeVac device on myself to show just how simple and non-invasive it is to use in an emergency.

I won't lie — it was emotional.

Standing in that room, holding a device designed to help save a child from choking, I could feel ZaZa's presence. And all I could think was:

I wish my son had this.

Nothing will ever bring ZaZa back. But his legacy is alive in every device donated, every staff member trained, and every child who is a little safer because of it.

What's next?

This donation marks the beginning of our rollout in partnership with Community Bank Bullsbrook–Ellenbrook and Community Bank Bindoon | Bendigo Bank. Together, we will be donating 31 LifeVac anti-choking devices to schools, childcare centres and community organisations across Ellenbrook, Bullsbrook, Bindoon and surrounding areas.

If your school, childcare centre, sporting club or community organisation is located within these areas and would like to learn more, please reach out. We are working through expressions of interest now and would love to connect with local organisations committed to keeping children safe.

Important: LifeVac is not a replacement for first aid training, standard choking response procedures or emergency medical care. Standard protocols should always be followed first. LifeVac is intended for use when those measures have been unsuccessful and a choking emergency remains.

Thank you to the staff and leadership at Lockridge Primary School for welcoming us so warmly and for your unwavering commitment to the safety of your students.

In loving memory of ZaZa.
Every device donated. Every conversation started. Every life potentially saved — his legacy, continuing.
