💙 City of Stirling Joins the Movement for Safer Communities 💙
Nobody wants to be the first—and nobody wants to be the last.
Following in the footsteps of the City of Joondalup, the City of Stirling has shown bold leadership by putting the safety of their community first.
Recognising the urgent need for the right equipment when first aid alone isn’t enough, Stirling has committed to purchasing LifeVac devices for all staffed recreation facilities—giving staff and the public another tool when every second counts.
Right now, ambulances are taking 18–20 minutes to arrive. But in a choking emergency, it takes only 4–6 minutes for permanent injury—or, heartbreakingly, death, like in ZaZa’s case.
For months, ZaZa’s Legacy – Choking Prevention Australia has been working quietly behind the scenes with City of Stirling’s executive officers, recreation, and leisure teams. After careful investigation, the city has now committed to installing LifeVac devices across its facilities.
(Beach locations already have more advanced suction through their oxygen resuscitation units.)
This progress wouldn’t have been possible without the leadership of Mayor Mark Irwin, the support of Stirling councillors, and letters of support from Senator Fatima Payman (WA) and Dr Anne Aly MP (Member for Cowan).
We are so grateful for their courage to lead—and for standing with us to protect more lives in ZaZa’s name.
This is community safety in action. This is ZaZa’s legacy at work.
