Dear all, I am moved to see the incredible support of each and every one of you, all over the world, to save Noura. When launching this petition from my home, in my small town in France, I never thought it would become a worldwide movement. I am deeply touched, because we are hundreds of thousands thinking that together, we can move mountains. From Paris to Washington, from Berlin to Madrid, over 770,000 people are refusing to let a young woman die for trying to save her own life, by protecting herself from a man who violently attacked and humiliated her. The news are encouraging. After rallies in the United States that forced media to talk about Noura’s case, the ambassadors of the European Union, Norway and Switzerland in Khartoum have announced their opposition to the verdict on May 15th. They have said they are "following closely and with concern the situation of Noura Hussein". In their statement, "the Heads of Mission reiterate their firm opposition to the death penalty anywhere and in any circumstances", emphasizing that Noura was using her right of self-defense. But nothing is won yet : as time passes, Noura's execution day gets closer and closer. If we were able to get reactions from the media and some world leaders by standing 700,000 strong, we can stop this decision by doubling this number! If each of us get one person to sign - only one person - we can reach a million and a half signatures ! This is enough not only to pressure the Sudanese authorities, but also our leaders around the world to take a stand as soon as possible and encourage the Sudanese government not to commit an atrocious crime against a young woman - already victim of barbaric acts.
