Z2300051 and BDG2300033 PETITION: Opposition to land use proposal outside the UGB

The Issue

I oppose the proposed expansion of the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) into the Orange County Rural Transition zone, specifically the development proposal for Moriah Ridge.

This proposal conflicts with the recently adopted Comprehensive Plan growth strategy. It does not align with the established community vision for the rural areas outside the UGB.

Let us thank the renewed commitment Councilmembers have made over the past year to the Urban Growth Boundary through the UDO rewrite process.  We recognize they've had to make some tough decisions to honor that boundary, which promotes the goals of density and infill,  reduced infrastructure cost, and enhanced transit access.

This proposal threatens the very values that the City reaffirmed through the updated Comprehensive Plan and, even more recently, the UDO rewrite initiative. We believe our City Council will honor the vision for growth that prioritizes thoughtful planning for the benefit of current and future generations.

Agenda Packet Item #13  & more details here:

The Public Hearing for Moriah Ridge is currently scheduled for Feb 3rd @ 7pm.

The full council won't be present for the hearing - check out the petition to delay the case until all Councilmembers will be present to vote for such an impactful proposal. https://www.change.org/Delay_for_Full_Council_Attendance_Moriah_Ridge
