YouTube needs to enforce community guidelines for safety standards
The Issue
Since the 2016 and 2024 elections, Russian disinformation has seen a rise in pro-Kremlin content, pro-Russian, and anti-Ukraine content on YouTube. In regards, misinformation and hate speech have been an issue including targeting and harassment as well. One of the sidelines involved medical misinformation such as Covid-19 which led to several videos being removed since then.
Our goal is committed to having a safe platform for everyone including fostering a diverse and inclusive platform for everyone based on race, gender, and identity. However, this isn't the first time that happened. The Fandom Menace and Comicsgate have been on the rise since 2017 targeting Hollywood and doxxing celebrities as well. Hate speech on making videos isn't the answer.
Lastly, we ask YouTube to persuade the company to revise, change, and reinstate rules to avoid that type of tactic in the future. Profiting money from hate shouldn't be the answer, and we think change should happen to foster and promote a safe environment for everyone. Finally, it's very important to fix the algorithm, cut down bots and trolls, and implement changes to improve the flow and usage of search recommendations.
