The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) has brought forward a proposal to hold Adult Continuing Education programs at Father John Kelly Catholic Elementary School (FJK) during regular Monday to Friday school hours. YCDSB's leadership team have shared that they are unable to guarantee there will be no incidents or interaction between the adult learners and our children. While certain safeguards have been proposed, it has been confirmed that these adults will not be subject to criminal history checks, amongst other concerns. Having adults learning in our schools alongside children is unsafe and sets a dangerous precedent. We are not against adult learners or leveraging the school for other purposes. We are deeply against adult learners attending the school while our children are expected to attend school. Say NO to this proposal by signing this petition.
