Yes 63! -- Fully Fund the Natural Resources & Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund

63% of Iowa voters approved Iowa's Water & Land Legacy Amendment on November 2nd, 2010.  This vote created the Natural Resources & Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund - a constitutionally protected source of funding for:

- Protecting Drinking Water Supplies for Future Generations
- Restoration of Wetlands, Rivers, Lakes & Streams to Protect Fish & Wildlife Habitat
- Prevention of Soil Erosion and Protection of Iowa's Family Farms
- Prevent Future Flooding Through Investment in Wetlands and Watershed Programs

Nothing is more important than having safe water to drink, and clean water in our lakes, rivers and streams.

Now it's up to the Iowa Legislature to fulfill the promise of the Trust Fund and provide funding through dedication of the first 3/8ths of one percent from the next state sales tax increase.  This would provide $150 million/year for Iowa's natural resources and outdoor recreation programs.

I'm a supporter of Iowa's Water & Land Legacy.

63% of Iowa voters approved Iowa's Water & Land Legacy Amendment on November 2nd, 2010. This vote created the Natural Resources & Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund - a constitutionally protected source of funding for:

- Protecting Drinking Water Supplies for Future Generations
- Restoration of Wetlands, Rivers, Lakes & Streams to Protect Fish & Wildlife Habitat

Additionally, investing sales tax revenue in natural resource programs will provide an economic boost for rural Iowa.

Every dollar spent on natural resources programs in rural Iowa generates over $6 in economic activity. Iowa State University estimates show that current investments in outdoor recreation support over 27,000 jobs and over $2 billion in economic activity every year. Now is the time to build on that success.

Nothing is more important than having safe water to drink, and clean water in our lakes, rivers and streams. This is an opportunity to listen to the people of Iowa and protect our shared resources for future generations.

Now it's up to you, our elected officials, to fulfill the promise of the Trust Fund and provide funding through dedication of the first 3/8ths of one percent from the next state sales tax increase. This would provide $150 million/year for Iowa's natural resources and outdoor recreation programs.

I am asking you, to support a sales tax increase when it comes to a vote and help us fully fund the Trust Fund.

Sincerely,
