The Issue

To the Product Planning and Executive Teams at Yamaha Motor Corporation USA:

For years, the global dual-sport community has been trapped between two extremes: heavy, complex adventure bikes or high-maintenance, fragile European race enduros. When Yamaha discontinued the legendary WR250R, a massive void was left in the market.

We are officially calling on Yamaha to leverage its world-class engineering to build a modern, middleweight, street-legal platform—a Yamaha WR450R or XT400.

Our Strict Community Requirements:

  • True Lightweight Design: A strict sub-300 lb curb weight (wet) to ensure it remains a nimble, highly capable off-road machine.
  • Low-Maintenance Powertrain: A fuel-injected 400cc–450cc engine built with consumer-friendly service intervals (measured in thousands of miles, not hours).
  • Highway Capability: A wide-ratio 6-speed gearbox capable of comfortably handling pavement connections.
  • Competitive Premium Pricing: A target MSRP under $10,000.  While the community is willing to pay a premium for a true sub-300 lb, low-maintenance Japanese machine, pricing must remain highly competitive against the Honda CRF450RL and the new Suzuki DR-Z4S models.

The Market Signal:
By signing below, we aren't just signing a Wishlist—we are signaling an active pool of buyers. Signees are encouraged to leave a comment with their current motorcycle and a statement of intent to purchase if Yamaha brings this machine to showroom floors.

Give us the machine to challenge the market. #BuildTheWR450R
