Elon Musk’s company, xAI, is building a supercomputer facility near Boxtown, a historically Black community in Memphis already burdened by decades of pollution.

City leaders see Musk’s arrival in Memphis, Tennessee, as a coronation of its future economy, a chance to transform the region into a “high-tech manufacturing hub.”

But reality is -- the gas-powered turbines are running 24/7, releasing toxins into the air — with no clear environmental safeguards, and no community input.

Memphis residents deserve answers — and they deserve to breathe clean air! 

We call on xAI leadership to immediately present a detailed and science-based plan to contain and phase out all toxic emissions from the turbines

and

Establish an independent community advisory board made up of local residents, public health experts, and environmental advocates

We need guarantees that Boxtown and nearby communities have a seat at the table — not just a view of the smokestack!
 

This is a chance for xAI to prove it’s not just another tech company putting profit over people.
