Say “NO” to nearly 100 new RV Campsites at Bartlett Ln Buffalo Bill State Park

The Issue

We the undersigned residents of Park County, Wy oppose adding nearly 100 RV camping spots on the Southfork side of Buffalo Bill State Park accessed by Bartlett Ln.

This is not an expansion to an existing campground.

We oppose a large number of RV camping spots because:

  1. It will significantly increase Southfork traffic.
  2. It will disturb the wide open and quiet space available for relaxation unique to this side of the park.

The quiet and expansive views conveniently accessed on the Southfork serve to recharge local residents and visitors who want to experience Wyoming’s local beauty.

We suggest involving the local residents before making such a large and permanent change to our park.

Responded
Hello I'm Brooks Jordan, District Manager with Wyoming State Parks. I'd like to clear up some misinformation (please see below). Also, please know that a public meeting is scheduled on Monday, August 9th from 6pm-7pm at Shreve Lodge (located off of the North Fork Highway) to provide further details about these temporary campsites and capacity/expansion efforts. Thank you. - There are 40 temporary campsites proposed at Bartlett Lane - These sites are temporary, not permanent - All temporary campsites are first-come, first served (total of 122 park-wide) - 24 temporary campsites at North Fork Campground - 58 temporary campsites at Stagecoach/South Shore boat ramp (36+22 tent only) - 40 temporary campsites at Bartlett Lane (on hold) - All temporary campsites are first-come, first served - These campsites are temporarily approved through the 2022 season, and future use will be evaluated as part of the upcoming Buffalo Bill State Park master plan process, scheduled to begin this fall/early winter - Extensive public input will be part of the upcoming master plan process - We appreciate your concern and input
