Worshipper "BANNED" from Didsbury Mosque, Manchester...unfairly
The Issue
REGULAR WORSHIPPER "BANNED" FROM DIDSBURY MOSQUE, MANCHESTER FOR CARRYING OUT A "COMMUNITY BACKED," INVESTIGATION.
I create this to support a dear friend in the hope of reversing this unfair and biased, mosque politics motivated decision.
I highlight this injustice based on these key principles...
THREE BEAUTIFUL TEACHINGS FROM ISLAMIC SOURCES...
QURAN (DIVINE SPEACH):
"Stand up for Justice even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or kin whether rich or poor...do not be swayed by desires..." Q4:135
HADITH - SAYINGS OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH):
"If you see an injustice, stop it with your hand. If you can't, then stop it with your tongue. If you can't, then hate that injustice within your heart...and that is the least you should do."
"The best of believers are those, from whose hands and tongue others are safe."
We try and live our lives by these rich and beautiful moral expectations and ideals...at least we should try.

IN SHORT:
The management, CEO and trustees of Didsbury Mosque, Manchester, were under "investigation" for multiple irregular practices, including financial, by the police and Charity Commission in the period May 2017-2018.
At present, over £5 million worth of property is being transferred to another charity name (despite prior financial mismanagement association), along with using strong armed silencing tactics (of which this is one), unfair dismissals as well as the unfair treatment towards women have been logged, pending enquiries. Too many to mention here.
All these culminating in people that are unfit for posts, that are making self-interest, self-serving policies, as opposed to serving the wider community interests.
Looks like 3 years on, from the start of the investigation, and they haven't learnt lessons. They're still carrying out unscrupulous activities and injustices.
TRUSTEES DOING THE HIRING & FIRING:
Trustees, "directing" the biased decisions, beyond the remit of traditional trustee duties. There is a clear "conflict of interest" when these trustees are dictating the field of play upon the running, hiring/firing of the Mosque. As a result many posts are given/taken away on political affiliations, and close linked ties as opposed to based on "merit."
THE COMMUNITY SUPPORTED INVESTIGATION BY GAC IS BEING STALLED:
In this instance, the spokesperson for this community supported "investigation," with GAC, is the individual that is banned for 15 months and threatened with a further 5 year ban if he enters the mosque, or steps on the carpark...FOR SIMPLY DOING HIS "DUTY-BOUND" INVESTIGATION THAT THE "TRUSTEES," "CEO" AND "CHAIRMAN" GAVE PERMISSION FOR AT THE START.
The investigation was initially started by the Charity Commission, they flagged up a lot of irregularities, thus resulting in their almost 1 year of investigation 2017-2018, after which it was then passed onto GAC to continue.
HIS CHARACTER:
Those that know him will know that he is a well respected, peaceful, helpful and honest pillar of the community. He is gentle and generous in his nature. He has served both the Mosque and the community very well for many years, on many fronts. Even the Mosque management can attest to this. This is undisputed.
He calls for transparency, investigations into any irregular activities, and a clean-up of management practices at Didsbury Mosque, Manchester.
However, due to this investigation processes being pursued thoroughly, it is clear, that for this alone he has been unfairly targeted.
AIMS OF GAC:
The investigation is being conducted by GAC, General Assembly Council. GAC was set-up after the Charity Commission (CC) found irregularities at the Didsbury Mosque during the May 2017 initial investigations.
This investigation by CC lasted until 2019/20. A watchful eye over the shoulder of Didsbury Mosque trustees and management. GAC worked alongside CC, the trustees, CEO and chairman. The CC gave directives and instructions for the trustees to adhere to a series of action plans that had to be followed). The CEO, the trustees and the chairman of the time agreed, thus allowing the CC to exit the frame and GAC continued their own internal investigations, with the backing of the community.
Since the CC left, and until now, the trustees stopped assisting in GAC'S internal investigations and closed ranks on any further assistance.
Obviously, these additional investigations by GAC brought up additional and new irregularities that the trustees and CEO did not want to comment on.
As a result of the lack of co-operation from the trustees the chairman resigned (the chairman not being involved in any wrong doings, only came in voluntarily to chair after 2017 to help assist with the clean-up).
To distance from this corruption within Didsbury Mosque's trustees is a sensible decision that the chairperson eventually took due to non-compliance by the trustees to engage with and sit with GAC at a table for negotiations.
Assuming, the longer they keep quiet the more likelihood that these questions would go away. However, that would be be an injustice. So the questions are still here.
GAC'S other responsibility is to protect the rights of the community in managing their mosque and it's properties, which have been taken away from the whole community by the CEO and a handful of trustees by creating self-serving policies, behind closed doors. Time and again the investigation has exposed, newer and serious mishandling and misuse of public funds. Questions to which the trustees are refusing to sit and shed light on, and until that happens, these questions lie unanswered.
BULLIES USE SILENCING TECHNIQUES:
This attempt at banning is simply a bullying tactic to silence this legitimate investigation from continuing.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT:
The community are wholeheartedly behind the GAC spokesperson, and want to resolve this banning matter peacefully and resume the investigation.
The first time in over 40 years Didsbury Mosque management have banned a brother or sister from attending the House of Allah...and it is obvious why.
MIS-USE OF POWER TO BAN FROM MOSQUE:
This is a very serious issue in the life of a faithful Muslim that prays 5 times a day, mostly in congregation at the Mosque. We have to demand reversal of these trumped-up charges...and misuse of power by the CEO and trustees alike.
The Mosque is the house of Allah, and no-one should be prevented from attending for Salat (prayer) unless the community sees a "real" danger in an individual towards attendees, management or damage to property etc.
The case here is simply to "silence" and pressure the spokesperson of GAC from further exposing Didsbury Mosque's internal irregularities.
The GAC spokesperson feels "duty-bound" by the initial appointment to carry out a thorough investigation to it's conclusion.
A "trumped-up" charge of a threat. Bullies, make things up to distract from the real big internal issues.
SUPPORT:
We ask for your support in this delicate matter. We hope that this will change the minds of Didsbury Mosque CEO and the trustees, and allow a transparent continuation of this on-going, non-cooperation, road blocked, slowed-down investigation.
A PARTIAL REPORT:
Only when a full investigation is completed, a report written up, will the full extent of the financial irregularities, injustices and unfair treatment towards women and unfair treatments of other minority ethnic attendees at Didsbury Mosque, Manchester, be brought to light.
JUSTICE:
Justice is to have an opportunity to ask the difficult questions, and not have to accept "no comment" answers over a 3 year period of constant road-blocking.
All these are clearly stalling tactics deployed by Didsbury Mosque CEO and trustees together.
A FEW BAD APPLES:
A few really bad apples, taking the law into their own hands, give the wider Muslim community a bad name, of which the majority Muslims are law abiding, peaceful and just individuals, and should be pillars of society.
Those in positions of power, and with ego, narcissistic tendencies can be extremely corrosive.
CEOS & TRUSTEES ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW:
No person is above the law, not even the CEO'S or trustees of the mosque. Each answerable to legitimate questioning.
Until compliance and responses, these serious questions remain largely unanswered.
So please help sign the petition and show support for our sensitive, yet equally important endeavour of securing transparency and rooting out harmful elements within our society.
It is in all peoples interest to help these investigations resume.
I thank you for your time and support.
SIGNING TAKES LESS THAN A MINUTE. THANK YOU
