World Leaders: Don’t Help Reopen the Strait of Hormuz — End the War with Iran Instead

The Issue

President Trump is urging NATO allies and other nations to send warships to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz carries roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply. With the route disrupted, oil prices have surged above $100 per barrel.

Several countries — including Japan, France, and South Korea — have responded cautiously. Some have emphasized de-escalation instead of military intervention.

Sending more warships into one of the world’s most volatile waterways risks widening the conflict, not stabilizing it. Security analysts warn that even a single drone, mine, or missile strike could trigger further escalation.

The best way to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is not more militarization — it’s ending the war that closed it.

We call on NATO members, European leaders, China, and regional powers to:

Reject further military escalation in the Strait
Prioritize immediate ceasefire efforts
Push for negotiated de-escalation
Prevent the conflict from spreading across the Middle East.

The world does not need a naval buildup in Hormuz.

It needs diplomacy.

Don’t help escalate this war.
Work to end it.
