Fossil fuel cars should be labelled as cigarettes are with warning messages.

Fossil fuel cars should be labelled as cigarettes are with warning messages.

Have you ever had that strange shiver watching old cigarette advertisements where pregnant women chain-smoked their lungs out?
Well, actually the air we breathe every day in our cities is not that much better. Sigh Out Loud (SOL) wants to highlight this paradox, in order to raise awareness in the global population about the effects of air pollution on human health; effects that too often are omitted by mainstream media and lobbies.
Today of course we know that smoking is bad for our health. It is written everywhere on the package, we see no advertising in television promoting cigarettes and, most of all, we are told since we are very young about the threats represented by tar for our personal health and of those around us. The same goes for alcohol, in most western countries.
Today of course we know that air pollution is also bad for our health.
But do we really know how bad?
Are we ever told, for example, about how many people die every day because of air pollution? Is it a higher number compared to cigarettes? And most of all: why not?
What we know for a fact is that in a time not far from now, people (our own kids) will look at our generation with the same cold shiver running down their spine, thinking:
“When my dad was young, they had got car commercials running in TV!”
We will feel bad, and naive, and old, and fooled. And most of all: stupid.
Or maybe not.
We have created a campaign to demand that polluting cars should be labelled by governments worldwide as harmful products (as cigarettes, alcohol and some other food &beverage products already are) to our health.
The immediate output of this project will be sustainable stickers to be affixed (without leaving any mark) on cars throughout the world, as a symbol of protest against indiscriminate pollution from the automotive lobbies.

Sigh Out Loud is a project by no panic & act.
