News coverage of Donald Trump's recent trial and conviction continue to refer to it as a "hush money trial". THIS WAS NOT THAT! Paying hush money is NOT a crime. Creating false business records IS A CRIME. Election interference IS A CRIME. Trump was on trial for falsifying business records, and further, trying to cover it up. By claiming the payments were "legal fees", he was committing business and tax fraud.
