SAVE DOUBLE BAY ! DON’T CLOSE THE HEART OF THE VILLAGE !

The issue

By way of an update the state government has now provided Council a six month extension to 30 June 2023 to complete the project. This is good news as it provides Council an opportunity to meaningfully engage with affected businesses, residents and other stakeholders.

The Council has also recently completed a Review of Environmental Factors (REF)through their landscape consultants who provided the design. This report is usually prepared prior to taking any decisions, but in this case it was prepared post the Council meeting on 2May’22 whereby Mr Aaron Gadiel from Mills Oakley highlighted to them that they needed to complete an environmental impact statement to better assess impact prior to progressing with the works.

The REF will be presented to the local traffic committee and subsequently to the council with recommendation. Each of you will have a opportunity to speak at the LTC meeting.

Call the councillors

1.Ask that they do a trial run and assess, as they now have time to do so
2.Have they assessed Impact of the construction on businesses in the area
3.Strategy if pedestrianisation fails
4.Compensation to affected businesses
5.Traffic impact
