Protect Wisconsin Motorcyclists: Hold Dangerous Drivers Fully Accountable

On August 6th, 2025, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, I was riding my motorcycle — centered in my lane, at the speed limit — when a pickup truck driver swerved across the double yellow line directly toward me, making eye contact and smiling.

Within two minutes, after I turned around to get his license plate, the same driver rear-ended my bike at approximately 5–10 mph. Witnesses confirm I was riding lawfully and in control. The driver later admitted to witnesses that he struck me because he didn’t like what he called my “funny motorcycle tricks” — though I was riding normally and safely.

I ride year-round. For me, motorcycles aren’t a hobby — they are a lifestyle, a passion, and a community. That changed in seconds. My wife now says she will never ride again. My daughter will never be allowed on my bike. A dream I’ve had for years — to ride with my family — is gone because of one man’s deliberate decision to put my life in danger.

This isn’t just about me. In Kenosha County and across Wisconsin, motorcyclists are injured or killed at alarming rates. Many of these incidents are never treated with the seriousness they deserve — especially when charges are reduced to misdemeanors or traffic citations. This sends a dangerous message: that endangering a rider’s life isn’t a serious crime.

When someone uses a vehicle as a weapon — crossing into a lane to scare or harm a motorcyclist, or deliberately striking them — it should be treated as an intentional act of violence, not a minor traffic offense. If we allow these cases to be minimized, we allow reckless and malicious drivers to repeat their deadly acts.

I am calling on the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office and Wisconsin lawmakers to pursue this case — and all similar cases — with the full weight of the law, including intentional tort or felony charges where appropriate. Wisconsin must send a clear message: If you endanger a motorcyclist’s life on purpose, you will be held fully accountable.

This fight is bigger than one case. It’s about protecting every rider on Wisconsin’s roads, preserving the right to ride without fear, and stopping the cycle of light penalties for life-threatening actions.
