Friends of Greasby Library (FoGL)

The first step for FoGL to take (in close partnership with Greasby Community Association, Greasby Knitters and others) will be to help organise our community to resist the proposal to close Greasby Library, using the positive arguments of high levels of usage of the library over many years, and a very significant community involvement and commitment to the library in Greasby, also over many years

We recognise that our library is far more than just a space for housing books.   It has a significant role in enhancing our community, with groups for various activities, from the FoGL’s evening talks, Greasby Knitters, Tots class, learning computer skills, printing, a tots play area where parents can bring their pre-school children along with other facilities and activities.  It provides a warm and welcoming space for social interaction and for combatting loneliness and isolation.  If we can persuade Wirral Council to retain Greasby Library, we can all work together to make this an even more significant community resource than it has been up to now.
