I live in a rural area outside a small town in Arkansas. The town gets 12 Mbit internet if you go with Windstream, but after moving only 3 miles away from the town, I am only able to get 1Mbit and still I am being charged a price that is given to people that are getting the faster speeds. So I feel that I am being made to accept this ridiculous price along with this ridiculously slow internet because the internet company knows that they are the only ones that people like me living in the rural areas can have. I have called and emailed everyone from the internet company that I could get an email address for and I keep getting the same response of " Thank you for your email or call, and we would like to let you know that we are always upgrading and just to continue to wait and eventually my area will be upgraded". It seems that these internet companies are indeed upgrading, but only upgrading places that have a population of a certain amount. I feel like the rural areas are being left out, whether its because they think that we are poor country folk that cant operate a computer or because we live in the country that we don't know how to even use the internet. Giving the rural areas faster internet will not only help me, but the rural areas are farms and Pilgrim's chicken plants that supply chicken all over the United States. Please make internet faster for rural areas in a timely manner. Getting the responses of within a year or so is unacceptable. I am wanting faster internet for all rural areas in Sevier County Arkansas as quick as possible please, 1Mbit internet for those that don't know is just fast enough to check email and that's about it. It is barely above what the FCC classifies as dial-up. I just have a hard time believing in this day and age with all the technology that is being used that rural areas cant get better internet speeds than dial-up. Please help the rural areas get better internet.
