I appreciate that the council has listened to the community and today the library reopened for the first time since March. It will be open Mondays 2-5pm and Fridays 9.30am-2.30pm.

Despite this great development, the council needs to extend the opening hours to give working families more opportunity to visit the library, particularly on the weekend. In addition, the after hours returns chute will remain closed which makes returning books difficult.

Therefore I will continue to lobby for the library to extend its opening hours and open the after hours chute. I will reach out again if I feel the council is dragging its feet and the cause needs more support. In the meantime, get reading and use the library so we can ensure this valuable resource remains in our community.
