Williston Basin School District #7 Demand Proper Use of Funds for School Buses

Williston Basin School District #7 Demand Proper Use of Funds for School Buses
The Issue
We are raising concerns about the inappropriate allocation and misuse of funds intended for the provision of school buses in our community. Access to safe, efficient, and reliable school transportation is critical for our children's safety and academic success. Recently, there has been noticeable negligence and misappropriation of these resources, compromising our children’s welfare and their right to a quality education.
According to the American School Bus Council, over 26 million children in the USA depend on school buses daily. However, an increasing number of these children have been left stranded due to inadequate or non-functional buses, a direct result of the improper use of allocated funds.
We implore the relevant authorities to intervene and ensure strict compliance with the rules governing the allocation and expenditure of funds earmarked for school buses. Such oversight is crucial to ensuring that every child has a safe and reliable means of transportation to and from school, which in turn improves academic outcomes and reduces road traffic hazards.
We cannot stress enough the urgency of this matter. Therefore, we kindly request that you add your voice to ours by signing this petition. Together, we can secure a promising future for our children by demanding accountability and proper management of public funds.
Goals of the Petition:
- Attach this petition to formal complaints to the U.S. Department of Education for an investigation into Dr. Richard Faidley’s misuse of funds. Dr. Faidley promised adequate school bus services to the Williston community but has failed to deliver sufficient transportation.
- Raise awareness about the misuse of federal funds and local tax dollars in the Williston Basin School District #7 (WBSD#7) partnered with Harlow's School Bus Services, where an estimated $3.5 million per year has been misallocated, leading to a lack of essential busing services for students. This will continue for the next 5 years.
- Hold Dr. Richard Faidley accountable for prioritizing the purchase of activity buses over regular yellow school buses, which are critical for daily student transportation. His focus on sports-related buses, instead of addressing the immediate needs for safe, daily transportation, undermines efforts to raise the student achievement score and places sports above students' fundamental needs.
- Hold the Williston Basin School District #7 School Board accountable for its poor decision-making and lack of oversight in approving expenditures that have neglected the essential transportation needs of the students. The School Board must be held responsible for failing to ensure proper use of funds and prioritizing non-essential programs over student safety.
By signing this petition, you are taking a stand for our children’s safety and future. Let us demand that our public funds are used responsibly to ensure that every child has access to the basic transportation services they deserve.
