Support the Brandon Park Revitalization Project

The Issue

Williamsport Pennsylvania, the home of Little League Baseball and the annual Little League Baseball World Series, has a problem. A community problem, a youth sports problem, and notably, a baseball problem. Hard times have befallen the Brandon Park Little League baseball and softball fields. These fields are currently in unusable condition and have not hosted games in years. You might have seen them on the news this year, as one of the dugouts was lit on fire. There have been numerous other articles detailing police interactions taking place within the park and overall safety of the area has been questioned as a result.

At this time, sadly, the fields are wrecked. The Little League dugouts are locked shut in an effort to curb further incidents. The baseball scoreboard has fallen. The fencing has collapsed in several places. The facilities have been broken into, trashed, and vandalized. Overall, the baseball fields are unsafe, unsanitary, and unacceptable. All of this within three miles of Lamade Stadium, the home of the Little League World Series, and a short walk from the same city streets that host the annual Williamsport Welcomes the World Little League Parade

Despite these conditions, we, the Williamsport Area Little League (WALL), have agreed to lease the Brandon Park fields. We want these fields. We need these fields, and with your help, we will fix them and bring baseball back to the heart of Williamsport.

The city of Williamsport has been a fortunate recipient of ARPA funding, the American Rescue Plan Act, receiving about $25,000,000 dollars. Mayor Derek Slaughter himself would like to see Brandon Park restored, enabling our city to once again become a "Recreational Hub". We at WALL agree, and believe it is time to bring youth sports back to the port! Unfortunately, convincing city council that our community wants this project, needs this project, has been difficult.

So, we ask for your help. Please consider signing our petition to show our community leaders that Williamsport wants to see Brandon Park restored. That we do want to bring #youthsportsbacktotheport. Help us tell our leaders to make funds available to revitalize Brandon Park. Don't let us miss out on this opportunity to send taxpayer money back into our community. Don't miss out on this movement to provide a safe place for Williamsport Area children to enjoy America's past time.

We're not going to give up on our children's recreation and neither should Williamsport City Council. Please sign our petition and feel free to voice your support and give them a call
