Dear Williams Supporters,
On March 26, the SJUSD board approved STIC’s recommended Option 8, meaning Williams Elementary will remain open for now.
At the same time, our thoughts are with the five schools that are closing. Many young students from those communities will now have to travel over a mile—often along busy and potentially unsafe streets—to reach their new schools. Listening to the stories from those families was truly difficult.
A sincere thank you to all the parents who showed up, stayed late into the night, and passionately advocated for Williams. Your efforts made a real difference.
A special shoutout to the core committee for their outstanding organization—mobilizing parents, arranging logistics like food, and thoughtfully engaging with families from other schools and with trustees.
To everyone who signed the petition, thank you. Reaching nearly 5,000 signatures speaks volumes, and your support had a significant impact.
We will keep the petition open and continue sharing updates, as there is still important work ahead to ensure Williams remains secure in the long term. Most importantly, we continue to keep enrollment strong—please make sure all eligible neighborhood children attend Williams for the 2026–27 school year.
