Let the DeLucia family keep their dog China.

The Issue

The DeLucia family has had their wonderful companion, China for over 3 years while living in Red Hill Mobile Park in East Windsor, CT.  China is a wonderful, sweet, and emotional dog who has never had any sort of aggressive altercation with another animal or human.

China was adopted from The Simon Foundation in Bloomfield, CT on September 15th, 2012 by Matthew and Lorin (LeBlanc) DeLucia.  She was a star at the Simon Foundation and one of the favorites of trainers and staff alike.  China was evaluted as non-aggressive toward people, other dogs, and even cats.

On February 3rd, 2015, Matthew was taking China for a walk when he was stopped and question by park management about her breed, whether or not she was a pitbull. Thinking nothing of it Matthew answered truthfully, that she is in fact an American Staffordshire Terrier mix, commonly known as a pitbull mix. The manager then goes on to explain, much to Matthew's surprise, that he must either get rid of his dog or move. His exact words were "We don't let those things in here, they are a liability and the insurance doesn't cover it"

At no time during the 4 years that Matthew has lived here, in a home that he owns, was it mentioned that pitbulls are not allowed in Red Hill Mobile Park.  Nowhere on the lot lease does it or has it ever mentioned that pitbulls are not allowed.  The park manager has been inside the house with China in the past and has seen her, even pet her on countless other occasions.

Breed specific legislation (BSL) does not exist in Connecticut, where the DeLucia family lives even though many insurance companies still choose to discriminate based on breed.

Please tell Red Hill Mobile Park that you will not stand for breed prejudice and to let the DeLucia family keep China, the most gentle and loving dog they've ever
