WLU taking away GRT bus pass

Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic which has already deeply impacted student's finances, classes, and university experience. Many students were shaken to realize that now the GRT bus pass which enables many students to get to class, groceries, appointments, and work has been suspended. Getting rid of these bus passes will deeply impact many students as the bus pass which was previously included in university expenses is no longer assessable to students leaving many students without transportation.

Many students are frustrated with Laurier student union ( the association in charge of providing these essential services to students) and their voices need to be heard! Too many to bus pass are fundamental and Laurier opting to offer a 4-month bus pass available for the price of $300 is very offensive to students who are already in debt! The breakdown of student fees also include athletic fees without confirmation if the facilities will be accessible to students yet the GRT pass was revoked.

The hope is to raise awareness for this issue that impacts ALL Wilfrid Laurier students as many are not aware of this issue yet! WLU proposed ideas that they were trying to help students during this time, yet an essential service many students rely on was stripped from their reach. Please sign this petition if you do not agree with what action has been taken by WLU, and the student association, students need this service back as it is fundamental for many!
