Extend Laurier's Winter Break

Extend Laurier's Winter Break
This past year and a half has been extremely mentally draining and exhausting due to the constantly changing circumstances regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite restrictions allowing for it, Wilfrid Laurier University has chosen to remain almost entirely online. Online classes have taken yet another toll which has greatly affected the wellbeing of the student body.
Some students may only have around 12 days in between their last exam and the first day of classes for the winter term. This does not give students enough time to recuperate and be fully prepared to start a new term. A longer break would give students more time to spend time with their family, possibly pick up extra work shifts which would reduce financial stress, and take time to themselves to better mental health. The majority of universities in Ontario are providing a full extra week during the winter break to promote student wellness.
Last year's break extension was found to be extremely beneficial by nearly all students and a similar extension would provide these same benefits. Please sign and share this petition and help us make a meaningful change in support of student wellness!
