I was looking to see the day Kansas was founded as a state. It was January 29, 1861. The other plain states like South Dakota and North Dakota were found as states on November 2, 1889. Nebraska was founded on March 1, 1867 and Oklahoma was founded on November 16, 1907. How is it that a state no founded till nearly 50 years later was able to get so far ahead of Kansas? Oklahoma City has The Devon Tower which is 844 feet tall and Tulsa has The BOK Tower which is 667 feet tall. Why has Wichita, our largest city in Kansas lagged so far behind? Wichita's tallest building is The Epic Center which is 385 feet tall. My project I am requesting is not even going to be a building but a tourist attraction like The Washington Monument, The Seattle Space Needle, The Gateway Arch, or The San Jacinto Monument. I am hoping for a height of ~500 feet to the observation area and ~550-570 feet to the very top. The people of Wichita you need to be more optimistic and realize this can be done if your willing to sign my petition and share it with others if other cities can have big buildings or tourist attractions Wichita can as well.
