We have some BIG NEWS! We received a decision today from the Judge for part one of two Summary Judgements... and WE WON!!! Not only did the judge side with us on this one, but he also granted the motion for the Murry-March Neighborhood Association to intervene on behalf of the entire neighborhood. This includes intervening and giving a voice to neighbors impacted that live directly across the street from the proposed site. Two big wins for us today in this case!
The fight is not over yet, as we have one more Summary Judgement on Friday, June 7th, lots more grassroots support to raise and endeavors to continue. But this is a great victory for us thus far! What a fantastic group of neighbors who have decided to band together, to stand up for their neighborhood, and fight for something they believe in. Thank you for the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears you’ve all put into this cause. And thank YOU (yes, YOU) for supporting us through your donations, your petition signatures, your likes and shares of our cause and news stories. It’s all been a tremendous help to raise our spirits and to keep up the hard work.
If you’re looking for more ways you can help, please write your elected officials in Tacoma, express your concern at what’s happening and how these projects are able to be granted permits, with very little or no notice to residents or public comment. It’s up to us to hold our cities and officials accountable for the processes put in place and the repercussions of poor planning/permitting.
