The indictment for allegedly stealing drugs of this woman who worked in an vet clinic is why Ohio animal hospitals should be randomly checked! The Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board, the state agency that authorizes veterinarians to prescribe and to access drugs, does not randomly inspect all of Ohio's animal hospitals. In my opinion, this is a large, black hole in veterinary oversight where bad actors can fly low, undetected under the radar. "Thommia Danielle Daley, 36, of Conroe, Texas is accused of conversion of a controlled substance after she allegedly stole 2.5mL of Hydromorphone, an opioid used to treat severe pain, from Lake Conroe Veterinarians while she was employed there." "Daley was fired after her boss discovered the Hydromorphone missing from one of the three shipments of the drug and after reviewing surveillance video of the alleged incident." "The video purports to show another employee unpacking three boxes of the drug but stepping out of the room for a moment, leaving the boxes in the room alone. Daley then reportedly enters the room, takes one of the bottles filled with Hydromorphone and puts it in her pocket." "Later, she reportedly returns the bottle to the box but with a broken seal and an amount of the drug missing." "Conversion of a controlled substance is a state jail felony. It is punishable by 180 days to two years in prison and/or a fine not to exceed $10,000."
