We need to be able to do what we want with our data!

Many of us have big chats with people we love who have passed away. Videos, audios, photos. Everything saved into whatsapp. 150k+ messages. Years of memories.

In order to save those memories (if the cell phone breaks for example), whatsapp would have to allow us to export part or the entire chat history of a contact as an html and the corresponding files, so that the user is able to open the html and can see the chat as it was on the phone, with linked videos, photos and audios, platform agnostic.

In this way ... if in the future whatsapp ceases to exist ... we will have access to that chat history, the audios, etc

Also, some people have big chats with lots of media that they want to save. You can export the chat this way and then delete it from the phone, freeing space but keeping the data on the computer.

Google backup is not useful for this... and now you even have to pay for the luxury of doing a closed-source backup because backups use your gigabytes quota of google drive now. And the cloud backup takes ages to complete.

Give the option of no crypt14/crypt15 but just backup of database.

There is a behavior of WhatsApp which may suddenly leave you with nothing - called either "something went wrong with your chat history" or "initializing"" "then with crypt14 or crypt15 as only local backup you are at mercy of WhatsApp server still keeping encryption keys and willing to give you them"

TELEGRAM implements this function perfectly if you need to see how they do it (screenshot attached). Whatsapp copied a lot from telegram.. they can copy this functionality too.

Whatsapp developers can add this option easily.
