10-year-old me was clueless and terrified when I got my periods for the first time. Nobody ever provided me with accurate information when I needed it. There was just shame and stigma. I did not know why I bled for 7 days straight. I did not understand why I felt an excruciating pain in my abdomen. And why I had to miss school every month.  

16-year-old me had a million questions about sex, sexual health, my body, and safety. Questions I could ask no one. There was an unspoken rule in my house, and in school that young girls don't talk about their bodies or sex! 

I grew up with all the confusion, doubt, shame, and ignorance. So, I made it my life's mission to educate young girls about their bodies and health!

"Didi, mahine ke waqt itni bleeding kyu hoti hain?"

"Safe sex kya hota hain?"

I hear so many such questions in hushed voices when I meet hundreds of young girls. They are so curious yet scared. They yearn for a safe and judgment-free space. They need access to accurate and scientific information about their bodies!

I cannot be there for them all the time. So when I heard of the Bol Behen Chatbot, launched by WhatsApp in collaboration with Girl Effect, I was elated to know that young girls can now get their questions about sexual health answered through it.

But those who need it the most, do not know about it! I am requesting WhatsApp India to popularize the Bol Behen ChatBot for all its users.
