Ngāti Hinemanu me Ngāti Paki  (NHNP) OPPOSE the Mōkai Pātea Waitangi Claims Trust (MPWCT) draft Deed of Mandate (dDOM) May 2020.

AFTER 180 YEARS Ngāti Hinemanu me Ngāti Paki has been subsumed by a NEW Iwi called Ohuake in the MPWCT dDOM.

The dDOM authorizes descendants of Tamakopiri, Whitikaupeka, Hauiti and Ohuake to represent, negotiate and settle ALL Ngati Hinemanu me Ngati Paki Treaty of Waitangi Historical Claims. 

The dDOM DENIES Ngāti Hinemanu me Ngāti Paki our Mana Motuhake (self-autonomy) and Tino Rangatiratanga (equal and independent representation).

MPWCT DO NOT have the authority from Ngati Hinemanu me Ngati Paki WAI 662, WAI 1835 & WAI 1868 Claimants to negotiate and settle ALL their Historical Treaty of Waitangi Claims.

The Crown (Te Arawhiti) continue to BREACH Te Tiriti o Waitangi in supporting the progression of the dDOM. 

MPWCT continues to MANIPULATE whakapapa and tikanga TO DISADVANTAGE Ngāti Hinemanu me Ngāti Paki claimants in the representation of their Waitangi Tribunal Claims.

MPWCT has no APPETITE to include our Iwi & Rūnanga as equal  alongside other Iwi & Runanga entities within their dDOM.

MPWCT has no APPETITE to agree to a multilateral negotiation and settlement process for our specific Treaty of Waitangi Claims.
