We need to introduce self defense classes all over the world in most establishments of work places and education. However change doesn’t happen over night, we need to walk before we can run. The U.K. is where we should start, in order to influence other countries to do the same.  I am a 23 year old student from Glasgow, Scotland and I cannot tell you the amount of women I know who have either been raped, sexually assaulted and harassed.  Most women I know have in fact got a story of being either sexually harassed, assaulted, abused or raped.  Myself included. It’s a very common issue known amongst women. We are not surprised anymore or shocked about the statistics against sexual violence towards women. We’ve became used to this, which makes this so scary.

Recently a post by GRM Daily was posted about how a staggering 97% of women in the UK have been sexually harassed.  The comments below by males were horrifying to witness.  This is part of the problem, women not being taking seriously as men joke about sexual harassment and violence towards women.  

We need to work together to make this world a better, safer place. For everybody.  Introducing self defense classes in the school curriculum for the younger generation in order to make them feel safer and more educated/ woke on rape culture.  We should also introduce it into Further education and the workplace establishments for people of all ages and genders.  The self defense classes will be taught/ demonstrated by professionals as well as giving out information/ lectures on what to do.  This will educate children, women and also men of being aware of the dangers out there & to defend themselves as well as defending others against predators.  We need to do something about this, it cannot go any longer.  We want women to feel safe and protected.  Doing nothing is doing nothing but adding to the problem. Women and men need to unite in order to tackle this.  This is not about shaming others.  This is about protecting others. 

I am not extremely educated with law or politics but if anyone knows anybody who can use this as influence as a way to introduce this and pass this as a law to parliament.  Get in touch.  This is a huge issue. It’s ruining lives and we need to protect those lives.  It should be a basic human right. To make people feel safe and protected. I think everyone should be passionate about this issue. Because it’s not just a women’s problem. It’s everyone’s problem. It’s a worldwide problem.
