Make Western Rez Cafs stay open so students practicing Ramadan have hot food
The Issue
This Month, many Western students are observing Ramadan. They abstain from eating food or drinking water. This year, fasts end as early as 8:05 and as late as 8:38. Western University Cafeterias have started closing since the start of Ramadan at 7:30. This means that Muslim students have to choose between getting food early and it getting cold, or buying food off campus, which is a lot more expensive. In addition, rez cafs made a promise to have halal options for the month of Ramadan, but on April 17, had no halal options prior to the caf closing.
muslim students deserve to be able to get a hot meal to eat after a 15-16 hour fast which they can eat with their dietary restrictions, and Western has failed to offer this option to students.
