Taking into consideration the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the human suffering and economic hardship it caused, Ukraine and its young people need support in all spheres of social life now more than ever.

We, the undersigned, ask selection boards of Western universities to give preference – all else being equal – to Ukrainian applicants for Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes in the year 2022.

Depending on specific rules and procedures of admission in Western universities, we also ask to provide tuition fee waivers and maintenance grants to all successful Ukrainian applicants for Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes.

Furthermore, we appeal to Western governments, businesses, charity organisations and individual philanthropists to establish special national and international funds that would work in close cooperation with Western universities to help them finance scholarships for successful Ukrainian applicants.

The re-construction and modernisation of Ukraine will need brilliant Ukrainian minds bolstered by Western scientific expertise, and helping future Ukrainian students will strengthen not only Ukraine, but the entire Western world.
