13 months have passed by since consultation on the draft EIS for the proposed flightpaths closed and 4 months have passed since the final EIS was published and sent to the Minister for the Environment and Water, Tanya Plibersek, for advice.  Minister Plibersek was to provide advice to Catherine King, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, within 28 days.

And the residents of Western Sydney are still waiting to find out if the flightpaths have been approved and if any conditions have been placed on those approvals.

RAWSA and the Blue Mountains Conservation Society wrote to the Ministers detailing the conditions that should be imposed, many of which mirror the conditions listed in the Senate Committee's report from the inquiry into The Impact and Mitigation of Aircraft Noise. The Ministers are yet to respond to either the correspondence or the report findings.

We can only assume that the government intends to delay any announcement until after the upcoming Federal election.

Take Action: Contact the electoral candidates in your local electorate and question their position on the operations of the airport.

Do they support and will they advocate for a legislated curfew?

Do they support and will they advocate for legislated flight caps and a Long Term Operating Plan?

Do they support and will they advocate for a holistic review of all aircraft operations in the Sydney region?
