Dear Solar Champions, Governor Tomblin took the important action of issuing a technical veto of HB 2201 the first time it reached his desk. But now it's back! And it's just as bad. HB 2201 forces the WV Public Services Commission to allow the monopoly utilities to charge solar energy producers fees to cover the costs of carrying their electricity on the utility grid, without considering the benefits of the clean power generation. And the benefits are clear -- fewer centralized fossil fuel power plants, more reliability and energy independence, reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Yesterday, solar advocates met with Governor Tomblin to urge his full veto of HB 2201. We also requested that he issue an Executive Order protecting a stable, unencumbered net metering market. He took our his reading glasses and reviewed our petition. He'll be making a decision over the next few days. Please continue to share this petition and let's see if we can convince Governor Tomblin to end this threat to energy freedom once and for all! Thanks for all you do! David
