Governor Tomblin signed HB2201 but with a critical statement in place that directs the West Virginia Public Service Commission to consider the benefits of distributed generation such as solar. Our voices have been heard in the fight against HB2201. We appreciate your support for solar energy in West Virginia. The most important thing you can do now is to install a solar energy system on your own home. The only way to beat the monopoly utilities is to deploy solar capacity. To that end, we've created the Almost Heaven Solar Community. Simply follow this link: http://geostellar.com/go/wv Then enter your address and see how much you can save with solar energy. The Almost Heaven prices are below $3/W, making solar energy cost around $0.07/kWh, less expensive than conventional electricity in WV. With zero-down loans, you can save money, increase your property value and gain independence from the constantly rising utility electric rates. Here is the full text of the Governor's statement: “Today I signed House Bill 2201, which regulates net metering as part of West Virginia’s power generation. I appreciate the increasing role solar and wind power will play in our state, and I encourage the Public Service Commission to continue to evaluate the costs and benefits of West Virginia’s net metering policy to balance the potential for new jobs and investment in alternative energy without unfairly burdening current rate-payers.” Thank you for all you do!
