This year, for the second time since 2009, Hassocks Infants cannot accommodate all of the children of school starting age that live WITHIN the Hassocks Infants catchment area. This problem is only going to increase with the proposed new housing developments and the increasing migration of young families to Hassocks. Hassocks Infants (and Windmills) cannot be expected to bear this burden indefinitely. 

We, the undersigned, residents of Hassocks, require a Primary School to be built serving the Hassocks area which will create a school place for every child within Hassocks. We require this school to be built due to the current over subscription of Hassocks Infants and the proposed housing developments due to be built in the near future, which will cause more children to be sent to other towns for school or left without a place if they cannot travel. We call upon West Sussex County Council to:

 ·       Investigate possible land for the building of the Primary school as    soon as possible

·       Make funds available for the building of the Primary School as soon as possible

·       Fully consult with local residents on any proposals

·       Take emergency action to intake to Hassocks Infants the Hassocks children that have not been placed at the school from September 2015, until the new school is made available
