Preserve the West Orange Italian Program

Preserve the West Orange Italian Program
The Issue
Currently, the West Orange Board of Education is deciding whether or not to cut the West Orange Italian Program that has been running for over 50 years. For the entirety of its existence, this program has encouraged and fostered the growth of all its students in areas of leadership, cultural appreciation, and knowledge. The decision to cut this program would affect the students and faculty negatively, as well as the community. For years, it has collectively programmed a scholarship dinner open to and engaged with the entire West Orange community in which students and faculty have instilled an appreciation for the Italian language and culture in everyone involved. The Italian Program has taught me dedication, time management, attention to detail, diligence, communication skills, how to be a team player, a great leader, and much more. Over the years, my colleagues and I not only studied and worked within the Italian Program but, with the help of Signora Amabile and Signora Zamloot, we formed a family and created a welcoming and comfortable environment for its students that may be lost without your help.
