Keep Dalmuir Park Blooming!

As a Clydebank resident, I am horrified to learn that West Dunbartonshire Council will not continue to maintain Dalmuir Park to a high standard.

The plan is to remove and infill all summer bedding resulting in an end to floral displays in Clydebank.  Furthermore, there will be a greatly reduced grass cutting service.

This Park serves one of the most deprived areas in Scotland according to Scottish Index Multiple Deprivation (SIMD).  In doing so, the Council should be doing everything it can to promote visitors to the park and to promote healthy living.  Cutting the Greenspace budget by over £500,000 is not the way to attract visitors to the area.

The SNP Administration and Senior Council Officials at WDC must listen to the Community and reverse this decision.  The Park was awarded a Green Flag Award in July 2017, and secured hundreds of thousands of pounds from the Heritage Lottery Fund to make improvements to the Park.  This decision to remove and infill the summer bedding goes against all the good work done by dedicated staff who have maintained the Park to a very high standard.

I hope you consider this petition very carefully and recognise the views of Clydebank residents and visitors who wish to enjoy the Park and its floral displays in the years to come.

Keep Dalmuir Park Blooming!

 Yours sincerely

 Mr Craig Edward

Clydebank resident
