Dear Friend of the Barclay Grounds,
Today the Borough of West Chester is completing the final “Closing” and taking ownership of the Barclay Grounds – thereby preserving it as an open space in perpetuity. The preservation of this historic, wooded West Chester landmark is a remarkable accomplishment – and is due in large part to our collective efforts as the Barclay Grounds Preservation Alliance (BGPA). Working together we have generated broad public support and raised over $1 million in public grants and private donations. As you will see below, though, this is not the final finish line and our fundraising work must continue.
In order to fulfill its funding commitment to the Borough ahead of today’s “Closing” the BGPA has received a loan of $140,000 from supportive members of our community. So, in order to pay off the loan, the BGPA is continuing our fundraising efforts by selling “Virtual Lots” of the Barclay Grounds. For a tax deductible* donation you can “purchase”** lots of various sizes and receive a certificate in recognition of your contribution. These would be a unique personal keepsake or a great present for anyone who loves trees, open space and West Chester. To own a virtual piece of the Barclay Grounds click on the following link.

This really is a case of “Give a little, get a ‘Lot’. ”
Disclaimers:
* The Barclay Grounds Preservation Alliance is an officially registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation with the IRS and can officially accept tax deductible donations. You should consult with your tax accountant in advance to determine the tax deductibility of any donation.
**Virtual lots to be sold grant no actual title, fee interest, or equitable interest in the land, have no secondary market value, and are merely a promotional sale to raise funds to preserve the grounds and prevent future development of this unique historic property. Purchaser understands that the purchase is made as a charitable contribution and shall receive a certificate of ownership and a guaranty that BGPA shall not re-sell the same virtual lot. All ownership and control over the property shall remain exclusively with the Borough of West Chester.
