West Chester Borough Council: Save the historic Barclay grounds from development

The Issue

The beautiful, historic and ecologically important grounds of the Barclay (N.W. corner of N. High and W. Marshall Sts.) play a unique role in the quality of life of the residents and visitors to the Borough of West Chester. This property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and contains one of the most diverse collections of historic specimen trees in West Chester - many of which are 130 years old. The property has been successfully defended from development for the past 50 years by the action of concerned residents.  Now a plan to develop these grounds and clear-cut the trees is set to come before the Council for final approval. Please do everything in your power to preserve this open space for future generations.
