The Labor Caucus is an official caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives co-chaired by Rep. Mark Pocan, Rep. Donald Norcross, Rep. Linda Sanchez, Rep. Tom Suozzi, Rep. Debbie Dingell, and Rep. Steven Horsford. The new caucus is comprised of 120 members working to advance the needs of the labor movement, combat the issues facing working families, and connect legislators directly with unions and union leaders. Does the Labor Union leaders fighting for their members rights  wants U.S. Representatives in the House that suppose to be
working to advance the needs of the labor movement, combat the issues facing working families, and connect legislators directly with unions and union leaders if they knew that don't support these same workers when they retire? In 2021, 15.8 million wage and salary workers were represented by a union.

After working 30, 40 or 50+ years these same worker will retire. If the same trend continues about 2.5 million of those workers and more will have their Social Security benefits reduced.
More than 2.5 million people dedicated to public service, including many educators, have their Social Security benefits reduced—or lose them entirely—due to the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO).
The WEP reduces the Social Security benefits of people who work in jobs covered by Social Security and jobs NOT covered by Social Security over the course of their careers—for example, educators compelled to take part-time or summer jobs to make ends meet.

The GPO reduces the Social Security spousal or survivor benefits of people who get a government pension (federal, state or local) but did NOT pay Social Security taxes themselves.

The Labor Caucus should be concerned about union workers and their families while they are working and after they retire. Of the 120 Caucus members that are the connecting legislators that deal directly with unions and union leaders, 11 are not cosponsors of H.R. 82 Social Security Fairness Act. This legislation was introduced to repeal WEP and GPO.

There are 272 cosponsors and the goal is 290 because of the House rules at 290 cosponsors, bills must go to the House floor for a vote or it could be sent to the House floor or the Ways and Means Committee floor by:

11 members of the Labor Caucus that are not cosponsors should not remain on the Labor Caucus and be replaced. Please contact unions and workers that don't pay into Social-Security and notify them of WEP and GPO and the below Representatives and this petition please.

The reduction of Social-Security benefits, that can be as much as $512 or survivor benefits being total eliminated in some cases. Representative Mike Johnson of Louisiana calls the legislation criminal.
