LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! Our elected officials don't think that many people are opposed to the Hayes Township Waste Transfer Facility. THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE!! If you do not want this to be built here, YOU MUST SPEAK UP! Please do all of the following if possible:
1. COME TO THE HAYES TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING THIS TUESDAY 5/26 AT 7PM and sign up to speak and share your concerns. Then, continue to attend other meetings in June. Follow this page for those dates.
2. SIGN THE PETITION opposing the transfer facility online at https://www.change.org/NOHayesTWPTransferFacility or in person at: the Airport Restaurant, Harrison Liquor Hub, Bob's Party Store, Amsterdam Cannabis, or Steve's Country Market. PLEASE ONLY SIGN ONE TIME.
3. PARTICIPATE IN THE EMAIL/LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN to our elected officials. Here is the info: https://www.facebook.com/ProposedHayesTWPwastefacilitypage/posts/pfbid0Xa2ECdcBEKfA9pFw9sjF8oKTKbFW6xyYc6CfrGnaa2NkKsL6fQEfYZXyqsZdfpFal
4. SHARE this information with your neighbors, family and friends that care about Hayes Township. HERE IS THE WEBSITE WITH ALL THE LINKS: https://nohayestwptransferfacility.carrd.co/
Facilities like this often get built in communities that are working class, or retirement, or have a lot of second homes/cabins because the community often can't fight back to stop it. THIS IS CALLED ECONOMIC INJUSTICE.
We hear from a lot of people that can't make it to meetings because: 1. They have to work! 2. They don't have a sitter for the kids; 3. They are downstate working because they are planning to retire at their cabin up here; 4. They are ill and dont feel well enough to come.
Our elected officials should not need us to PROVE to them that we don't want this facility here. They should be actively seeking to talk to people to find out if we want it.
A good leader would go visit all of the businesses on the strip near the proposed location and ask them what they think. A good leader would ask the community if they want this, specifically the people who live, work, and own property near the proposed site. A good leader would make it very easy for the community to voice their concerns, perhaps by posting on social media or sending out mailings/surveys, or posting a survey on thier website, etc. Let's encourage our leaders to do these things.
