We the undersigned, citizens of Mira Road, Mumbai, India call for immediate PEACE in the locality of Mira road. 

An upright police officer once said, ‘No riot can last for more than 24 hours unless the state wants it to continue’. What we are seeing in Mira Road now is an endless cycle of violence and retribution, aided ably by politicians and extremists of both religions. 

1. We call on citizens of Mira Road to maintain peace. Do not let politics come in the way of shared history, ties of business and friendship between communities. Don’t get provoked by ANYONE. 
2. We call on elected representatives especially MLAs, ministers and corporators to NOT make inflammatory statements and instead find ways to maintain peace. 
3. We demand the police to take strict action against anyone who breaks the law in Mira Road
4. We demand that people spreading rumours and posting hateful messages on social media websites be dealt with strictly according to law. 

We want peace in Mira Road and we want it now!
